About Institute of Minerals and Materials Technology

Established in 1964 as the Regional Research Laboratory, Bhubaneswar, IMMT is a constituent laboratory of the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR), dedicated to R&D in mineral and materials technology for national development and global impact.

Establishment

Founded as the Regional Research Laboratory, Bhubaneswar, under CSIR, focusing on mineral resources of Eastern India.

1990

Expansion into Materials Science

Broadened research mandate to include advanced materials, becoming the Institute of Minerals and Materials Technology.
